Stacker Pro is a local-first macOS utility. It does not require an account and does not operate a user cloud.

What Stacker Pro does not do

No accounts, sign-in, or user profiles
The Mac app has no analytics or advertising SDKs
No crash-reporting cloud
No upload of window contents, screenshots, or documents
No license server — STKR1 codes validate offline on this Mac

What stays on your Mac

Stacker Pro inspects and controls windows already on this Mac so it can stack, switch, hide, and restore them.

Window metadata (titles, frames, app identity) is read locally via Accessibility and, when needed, Automation / System Events.
Saved stacks, settings, and trial state are stored on this Mac.
License codes (STKR1…) are stored in the macOS Keychain on this Mac. Older installs migrate a leftover preferences copy into the Keychain on next launch. Trial start time is stored in the Keychain (ThisDeviceOnly) with a local preferences cache. Clearing preferences does not restart the 14-day trial on the same Mac and user.

Uninstalling the app leaves standard macOS leftovers (preferences, accessibility listing) unless you remove them yourself.

Permissions

These permissions cannot be used remotely. Stacker Pro can only act on the machine where it is running.

macOS may still show Gatekeeper / notarization checks when you first open a downloaded copy. That is Apple’s process, not Stacker Pro sending your data.

Network

Expected network use:

Software updates (Sparkle). If you leave automatic updates on (the default after the first launches), Stacker Pro periodically fetches a signed appcast to see whether a newer version exists, then downloads a signed, notarized update when you choose to install. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings. A manual Check for Updates… command uses the same feed.
Purchase page. Opening Buy loads Lemon Squeezy checkout in your browser. After payment, a license email is sent from licenses@ryanloechner.com.

There is no license server, no telemetry endpoint, and no upload of window contents. Update archives are signed with Sparkle EdDSA in addition to Apple Developer ID / notarization.

This website

The marketing pages at getstackerpro.com are separate from the Mac app. They may use DataFast in cookieless mode to count page views and button clicks (download, checkout). That script is not embedded in Stacker Pro. The Mac app still has no analytics or advertising SDKs.
